Pyeong is an area unit often encountered when discussing property in Korea. This converter helps readers move between a square-metre figure and a pyeong figure without guessing a rough ratio. It changes the unit of an area only; it does not decide which parts of a building a listing includes.

The calculation, explained
84 square metres
25.41 pyeong
Multiplying 84 by 0.3025 gives 25.41. This is a unit conversion of the stated 84 m², not a claim that every listing described as a particular pyeong size contains that much private interior space.
Use an area measurement, not a length
Square metres measure surface area. Metres measure length. For a simple rectangular floor, multiply its length in metres by its width in metres to obtain square metres, then convert that area. A 4 m by 5 m rectangle is 20 m², which is 6.05 pyeong. Irregular shapes need an appropriate area calculation first.
Compare the same definition of floor area
A property listing can refer to private interior area, supplied area that includes shared portions, or another stated measure. Translating the unit does not make those categories equivalent. Before comparing two homes, check the original labels and ask what spaces each figure includes, particularly balconies, shared corridors, and service areas.
Keep rounding until the last step
The shortcut of dividing square metres by 3.3 is convenient for a rough estimate, but it differs from the factor used here. Use the full conversion for the calculation and round only the final displayed result. A number with more decimal places still cannot be more accurate than the original measurement.
Questions that come up
Is one pyeong exactly 3.3 m²?
No. This tool uses one pyeong as 400/121 m², or about 3.305785 m². The value 3.3 is a rounded shortcut.
Does this convert square feet?
This calculator currently converts only square metres and pyeong. Check the source unit before entering a number from a listing that uses another area unit.
Can it tell me how much furniture will fit?
Area alone is not enough. Room shape, wall positions, doors, fixed fittings, and clearance around furniture all affect the usable layout.
