How to use this tool
Turn a sale percentage into an actual amount before deciding whether an offer fits your budget. Enter the original price and the percentage taken off to calculate the saving and the discounted price. The result uses the same currency units as your input, so it works equally for dollars, euros, won, or an abstract price comparison.
- Enter the price before the discount. Check whether the retailer's displayed price already includes tax.
- Enter the discount percentage. A 20% discount means that 20 out of every 100 price units are removed.
- Use the discounted price as the next starting price if a second percentage discount applies.
The calculation, explained
Original price: 80 currency units. Discount: 25%.
Save 20; pay 60 currency units
One quarter of 80 is 20. Subtracting that saving from the original price leaves 60, before any additional charges not included in the input.
Check the order of stacked discounts
Two discounts usually apply in sequence when the offer says the second is taken from the reduced price. A 20% discount followed by 10% off turns 100 into 80, then 72. The combined saving is 28%, not 30%. Store terms can specify another method, so use the order actually offered.
A discount is only part of the checkout total
Delivery, tax, fees, minimum purchase requirements, and excluded products can change what you pay. This calculator applies one percentage to the number you enter. It does not infer local tax rules, retailer rounding, coupon eligibility, or the value of reward points.
Compare the final price and useful quantity
A larger advertised percentage does not automatically mean a better purchase. Compare prices for equivalent products and check the unit price when package sizes differ. A saving against a listed price tells you the arithmetic difference; it does not establish that the listed price is typical or that you need the item.
Questions that come up
What does 100% off mean?
The discounted product price becomes zero. Any separate delivery, service, or other charge would still need to be considered independently.
How do I apply a fixed-value coupon?
Subtract the coupon amount at the stage stated by the retailer. A fixed amount and a percentage discount can produce different totals when their order changes.
Can I enter a price in cents?
Yes. Keep the unit consistent throughout. If you enter 8000 cents, the result is in cents. The calculator does not automatically convert cents to dollars.
